AUDIOSLAVE Guitarist: 'We've Been Very Unafraid Creatively'

AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello recently spoke to Gary Graff of The Plain Dealer about the group's brand new album, "Revelations".

Regarding the band's funk overtones on the new CD, Morello said, "It's part of our musical psyche. I think we're all fans, from SLY & THE FAMILY STONE to JAMES BROWN to FUNKADELIC.

"I think we've just been very unafraid creatively, whether it's to go harder rocking in one direction or go funky in another direction. When we're in the rehearsal studio writing songs, we really think there's nothing we can't do. And this is where it led us this time."

On the breakup rumors, Morello said, "We've broken up and reformed already, so it's business as usual now. At the end of the day, are [the rumors] a hassle? I don't know. Maybe people talking about it is a good thing. As long as the name AUDIOSLAVE comes out of their mouths, who cares in what context?"

According to Hits Daily Double, "Revelations" is poised to sell between 130,000 and 140,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to land in the Top 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.
